Thematiques
Use a theme before you start the creative musical work. Think of it like making a short movie.
You need a story, characters, emotions and a framework that carry your idea from being nothing to being interesting.
This is a strong technique that can get you going fast. There is a big upside to this one. Your theme idea will affect the way you write melody, lyrics and choose chords. You just need to think about your theme and you will be on track with your project.
Syllables technique
This is a technique you can use to get your syllables to work in your song.
It´s quite common that you are in a situation were you have a melody and lyrics for verse one. You are quite happy with it and go for verse two.
But the things that seemed natural between melody and lyrics in verse one does not in verse two.
It might help you to be aware of how words actually have their own “inbuilt” rythm.
This is called syllables, a word might consist of one, two three or more syllables.
This can be used to make the words fit your melody
.
GhostTechnique
This is in a way similar to the above technique but there are some important differences.
In the Ghost technique you actually take a complete song of somebody else, use the same formm the chords but you make a different melody. When you get a bit deeper in this process you start to change certain elements of the song to make it more unique to you.
Powerfull technique when it comes to make hit songs
.
CopyCat technique
A lot of good songs are already written.
You can use that without being a copycat in the eyes of the law and in the eyes of your conscience.
Melodies and lyrics are copywrithed, chords are not. You are free to use chord progressions, forms and structures that have worked and proven to be successfull before.
This is a powerfull technique, “a must have” if you are writing hit songs.
Takes practice to master though.
Melody Technique
I´ve found that a lot of people have a hard time writing melodies. Some people just don´t know where to start and some want to make stronger chorus parts or have a hard time with quality control of their work.
This technique will show you several ways to overcome your melody problems.
Drum loops technique
This is an interesting one where you get to write melodies without an instrument. You don´t use chords for a start. You make melodies to drum loops with a certain groove that fits your genre.
Chords technique
This is a way for you to get started using known chord progressions and chords in general to make a song take of.
I will show you the pitfalls with this approach. I will also show you several advantages you can use to make this work to its full potential.
Lyrics technique
Lyrics might be hard, especially to make lyrics fit your melody.
You will learn how to approach this problem and avoid common misstakes .
Write lyrics that convince and fit the theme of your song.
Improvisation technique
Here I will show you how to use simple improvisation to find melody and chords that strikes the emotions you are after.
Inspiration Technique
There will be times when inspiration is too far away. You just don´t know how to move in and get the job done.
I will give you a toolbox to use when this happens. You will never again fail because of a lack of inspiration.
